Background
The initials SJS reflect Mr. Wilson’s family legacy in real estate that spans 100 years. Beginning with his grandfather “Sidney” in the 1920’s, his father “James” beginning in the 1950’s, and “Stewart” who began in 1985, his goal has been to carry forward this multi-generational 100-year tradition of success – thus the initials “SJS”.
Since launching SJS Real Estate Partners in 2015, Mr. Wilson’s first six Funds (SJS I – SJS VI) invested in a total of 96 multi-family properties with 12,900 apartment units acquired for over $960 million. SJS I – SJS VI have built a solid track record of delivering significant income plus solid capital growth for investors, and Mr. Wilson expects that record to continue throughout the life of each Fund in the years ahead.
In addition to Mr. Wilson launching and managing all the SJS Funds in recent years, Mr. Wilson has held other executive positions. In March 2017, Mr. Wilson took over NoHo Software, a California based technology company, building it into the leading developer and provider of administrative software for subsidized childcare in the State of California. Under his leadership as CEO, the company nearly doubled its size within five years. In June 2022, Mr. Wilson successfully completed the sale of NoHo Software to a New York based private equity firm. Mr. Wilson retains a minority interest in the merged company but holds no active management role.
Prior to founding the SJS Funds and his involvement with NoHo Software, Mr. Wilson’s professional background spanned over 36 years in the investment brokerage industry. Mr. Wilson became a registered futures broker in 1982 and founded his own firm, Strauss & Company, Inc. in 1990. The firm operated as a full-service brokerage firm providing investors and traders access to a wide range of futures and options products on major exchanges in the United States and Europe. Through a series of mergers and acquisitions, the firm evolved into Ironrock Financial where Mr. Wilson served as CEO until he divested his interest in 2019 when he was devoting all his time to growing his real estate and software companies.
Mr. Wilson began his career in finance in 1976 with a privately held leasing company in Santa Monica, California. He attended San Diego State University from 1971 though 1972, majoring in finance at the Fowler School of Business Administration, and subsequently completed his education at California State University Northridge’s School of Business and Economics in 1975.
Drawing on more than 36 years of global investment experience, a broad entrepreneurial background, a decade-long record of strong results across the SJS Funds, and a deep family legacy in real estate spanning more than 100 years, Mr. Wilson brings exceptional expertise, leadership, and strategic insight to SJS Real Estate Partners.
